Setareh – Light Brown and Cream

Set against a warm light-brown background contrasting with neutral cream detailing, this modern Persian carpet measures 6’ x 8’9” and belongs to the Orley Shabahang Mosaic Collection. Titled Setareh, meaning star or fate in Farsi, the design centers on a labyrinthine central medallion inspired by the ceiling of the main bazaar in Isfahan, Iran. Rendered in contrasting cream wool, the medallion anchors the composition, while surrounding latticed brick motifs radiate outward, creating a sense of rhythm, movement, and architectural depth. The result is a mosaic-like surface that feels both grounded and quietly dynamic, balancing historic reference with a clean, contemporary sensibility.
