This Persian Tehran carpet, woven circa 1900, features a Tree of Life design and consists of a cotton warp and thread, handspun hand-knotted wool pile and natural vegetable dyes. It is an exceptionally fine and detailed piece, in which the artist has utilized every inch of space to illustrate the scene depicted. Among the flowers and blossoms are peacocks, ducks, koi, cypress trees and boteh motifs. Its rich red field balances the light blues, creams and pinks of the design. The size is 4’2″ x 6′, and it is in excellent antique condition.
