This antique Sarouk, woven circa 1910, possesses a traditional sandy red foreground decorated with garland motifs. The bouquets sweep across the foreground and provide the landscape for butterfly and caterpillar motifs to camouflage themselves within the foliage. This carpet also contains a small but intricate medallion detailed in brown, cream, blue, and green wool, typical amongst most smaller Sarouk carpets. The condition of this intriguing antique is fair with wear consistent with its age.
