Antique Red and Indigo Tabriz

Collection:

This antique Persian carpet in red and indigo circa 1920 measures 11′ x 15′ and consists of a handspun hand-knotted wool pile and organic vegetable dyes. The shades of red vary throughout the central medallion, field, and border, as the natural striation of the dye lends a visual softness to the rug’s vibrant coloration. Deep indigo fills the backdrop of the carpet’s design, while light blues, pinks, and golden cream tones highlight its intricate floral motifs. Curvilinear vines and stems interlace to create a cohesive balance throughout the design. This carpet is in great antique condition and is a beautiful example of a 1920s classical Eslimi, or Arabesque, design.
