Antique Malayer

Collection:

This Persian Malayer carpet circa 1900 consists of pure handspun wool and vegetable dyes. It is hand-knotted on a cotton warp and wool weft, featuring natural hues of indigo, gold, light blue, and orange amid neutral creams and tans. The colors have remained luxurious as they have subdued with age, resulting in a timeless and sophisticated palette. The weave is very fine, as shown in the detailed motifs decorating the carpet’s field and border. Intricately woven phoenixes alternate among multi-layered flowers and geometric vases throughout the field and border. This carpet is in great antique condition, and the size is 4’5″ x 6’6″.
