Antique Farahan

Collection: ,

This Persian Farahan rug dating to the 1890s consists of a cotton warp and weft and a handspun wool pile. Its vivid yet earthy colors are derived from organic vegetable dyes of red, green, blue and cream tones. Working together harmoniously these colors create a unique medallion design. A finely detailed border and elaborate detailing throughout the rug’s foreground and field crown this exemplary piece. This rug is truly an exceptional work of art, and a standout example from the Golden Era of Persian carpets in the late 19th century. Superbly intact, the rug is in excellent antique condition.
