Guy Regal Installation at NYDC
We are so happy to be part of this month’s installation in the New York Design Center at 200 Lex designed by Guy Regal, fine arts dealer in suite #425!
For this month’s vignette, Guy has showcased our Reverberation carpet as an anchor for other beautifully designed furniture and art. The collaboration between the Orley Shabahang team and Guy Regal was rooted in a chance meeting three years ago at the Palm Beach Jewelry, Art & Antique Show where Guy, who at the time was VP at a prominent furniture and art dealer, was working in the booth across from us. We continued to admire each others work, and after deciding to open his own showroom in 200 Lex, Guy reached out to see if we were interested in taking our relationship to the next level. Now you can find two of our favorite carpets in his showroom year round alongside his beautiful collection, and we are excited to be a part of this special showcase of Guy’s work in the lobby of 200 Lex!
Against the backdrop of stunning Helmut Newton photographs and incredible Art Deco furniture, Guy was able to use high quality products both old and new to create a beautiful design that embodies the classic 1920’s New York aesthetic with a sensibility that holds true today. The richness in color variation adds a bold texture to this carpet, however the symmetry and simplicity of the piece allows for the furniture to shine through. The cream center is undyed wool, and as such, the variety of colors come straight from the sheeps back. The multidimensional color of the sides, on the other hand, derives from the hand-spinning that is part of our process. Thanks to the traditional drop-spin method we use to spin our wool, the diameter of the resulting yarn has a constant and slight variation. This means that the wool saturates the dye differently at every point, creating a natural striation of color. You will notice this in all of our carpets, which is just one of the aspects that makes them so unique.
You can view this instillation throughout the month of February at 200 Lex! You can visit Guy and his amazing collection of fine arts in suite #425 or on his website https://guyregalnyc.com
