Persian Bibibaft Bakhtiari Carpet from Nooch Village, circa 1890
This Nooch village Bibibaft Bakhtiari consists of a cotton warp, wool weft, hand-knotted pure wool pile and natural vegetable dyes.
Its unique garden design includes a tree of life depiction amid flowers and butterflies with blues, pinks, reds, creams and golds balanced beautifully throughout the rug.
The spaces between the diamonds in the grid are particularly unusual and a testament to the skill of the weaver.
Distinguished as a “bibibaft,” this carpet was created by a high-ranking weaver within the village. The size is 4’6″ x 6’4″ and it is in excellent vintage condition.
