Antique Spotlight!

Persian Kashan Mohtasham carpet, circa 1870

This Mohtasham is exceptionally fine and in excellent antique condition. It consists of a cotton warp and thread, hand-knotted wool pile and natural vegetable dyes. Its intricate medallion, field and border are embedded with symbolic motifs and figures in the forms of flowers, trees, abstract birds and butterflies.

While its design is highly detailed and elaborate, this carpet’s unique coloration creates an overall tranquil and calming effect. Its soft blues and creams are balanced by its subtle tan and navy tones, the beauty of the dyes further enhanced by the carpet’s age.

The size is 8’4″ x 11’8″. You can view this antique and more on our 1stDibs page!
