Antique Spotlight!
Persian Mishan Malayer, 1900-1910
This 1900-1910 Persian Mishan Malayer rug consists of a cotton thread warp, handspun wool weft and hand-knotted handspun wool pile. Its rich reds, coppers, midnight blues and golds were all created using organic vegetable dyes.
Woven in the village of Mishan, this type of Malayer is renowned for its exceptionally fine weave and high quality. The coloration and design are both rather unique and unusual, and given it is also a Mishan this carpet is an extremely rare find. The border is truly magnificent in its detail.
The rug is in excellent condition especially for an antique of its age. The size is 4’4″ x 6’4″.
