Iran at the 2018 Winter Olympics
While the 2018 Winter Olympic games have just finished, here are the 4 athletes that competed for Iran!
In this Olympics, 2 women and 2 men qualified for the games, including 2 repeat Olympians!
Mohammad Kiyadarbandsari: This was 28-year-old Mohammad’s 1st Olympic games. He’s the 1st Iranian to ever medal at the Asian Winter Games
Forough Abbasi: At only 24-years-old this is Borough’s 2nd Olympic games competing in the Slalom event! She also competed in Sochi in 2014. Both times she finished within the top 50.

Cross Country Skiing:
Seyed Sattar Seid: This is also Seyed’s 2nd Olympics. He competed in the 2010 Vancouver games in the 15km event. This Olympics he competed in both the 15km and the men’s sprint.
Samaneh Beyrami Baher: Competing in her 1st games, 26-year-old Samaneh was in the women’s sprint and entered in the women’s 10km. Despite not placing, Samaneh has stated how proud she is to be competing for Iran at the Olympics, especially due to the less than ideal training conditions. Most athletes are able to train year round, whereas Iran only has snow in the mountains about 3 months out of the year and she has to travel to Armenia and Turkey to train.
Congratulations to all the athletes!
